I've heard nothing but great things about this book so when it came up free a couple of days ago, I scooped it up.I'm not usually a vampire fan. But this book fascinated me. I couldn't put it down. It's graphic, and the sex scenes have a lot of blood. But, I liked it. A lot.Shara has been on the run since her mother was murdered. Her father was murdered years before. Her two knights find her with more to come in following books. This is very much a polyamorous relationship which I love to read about. It may turn some people off, but love is love. Even between vampires.I wish it had a longer page content... but I always wish books are longer than they really are.I'm off to buy book 2!
Whoa! Hot, hot, hot! I was not expecting to fall in love with this but I could not stop reading (which killed me while I was stuck at work today.) Best paranormal erotica I’ve read in a while! Hands down my current obsession.Shara is a vampire queen and she’s taken two powerful knights (her Blood), Alrik and Daire. I love the dynamic between these three. To be truly safe (and reign as true queen) Shara will need to add more to her Blood. I’m interested to see how others will mix in their group, but I hope the original three stay close to each other.The erotic scenes nearly turned my screen to fire. I love how the group is bisexual - both men are in love and satisfied by their queen, but they have no problem having sex with each other too! (And Shara enjoys it as well, how could she not?)The gore is excessive and graphic - it is a major part of their love making and I loved it. I’m all about vampires being vampires, I love the violence of it. They are not human and they are supposed to act accordingly. So definitely not for the faint of heart, these are real vampires, not the sparkly kind made for teenagers.The ending is powerful and the revelations left me reeling. You think it’s a simple cut and dry plot but with each chapter you begin to see the layers. The author switches point of view between all three leads and it’s never jarring, which is impressive. I love the pacing of this book, I enjoyed everything about it.I can’t wait to read book two! I’m definitely a big fan of Shara!
Queen Takes Knights by Joely Sue Burkhart is book one in her new vampire paranormal romance. An erotic menage romance and possibly reverse harem as we get to the next books I the series (too early to tell since only book one).Shara Isador has been on the run from the monsters that murdered her mother five years ago. At the age of twenty-two, she is all alone and never at one place for too long. While working in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Shara is finally caught and is ready to end it all herself instead of letting the monsters torture her, when two men come to her rescue. Vampire knights, claiming to be her Blood and sworn to protect her as their queen. Alrik and Daire, have searched for their own queen to serve and now that they have found her they will do everything in their power to protect her. However, they're not the only ones searching for the lost queen of Isador. What follows is an interesting story with a new take on the vampire lore that had me hooked.Shara is a strong heroine who doesn't shy away from danger or stand back once her two knights come to her aide. I also liked the affection that three main characters begin to develop for each in this installment. I hope we get more deeper into their feelings and their relationship as the series goes on. This story spent more time preparing the series and giving forming the mythology and background for what is to come.Overall, Queen Takes Knights by Joely Sue Burkhart is a good beginning to a new paranormal series and I look forward to the next installment and finding more about Shara and her Knights. I recommend.
This I think it's safe to say that as of now this books been put in my favorites pile. And if your anything like me your over the softer prettier boy next door only vampires. It's like yes I want love and romance but I want the teeth and blood the more primal raw side of what vampires are, not that I don't like all vampires but it seems to be harder to find tough raw gritty ones of any degree anymore. Like let these vampires be the fierce strong bloody creatures they are! And this author gave me that real primal vampire feel while still keeping the love and romance present in its own way. I loved the story, the blood, the suspense and sexiness. I can only hope the books to follow continue on the same wonderful story and bloody imagery. And I sit here anxiously awaiting the rest of the books in this series! So I would definitely recommend this book especially if you like your vamps on tough (but sweet in their own way) side and if not yeah you should still give it a try. Love it need more!
