This is a compendium of modern/contemporary landscape painting (mostly) with an emphasis on the pretty and the beautiful. In that respect, it will be of interest to many part-time painters, hobbyists, etc. who are lucky enough to live in California and have access to its wonderful geography. The book's illustrations are very well presented--clear, saturated color, etc.
Wow what a wonderful selection of paintings of the California coast! The artists featured in this large book are really accomplished and the works are inspiring particularly if would like to go paint the ocean and coastal scenery. They are all beautiful.
This is a beautiful book celebrating the artististic history of the California coast. I would have liked more info and artists from the northern part of the state but I did enjoy both the narrative and the stunning illustrations.
