Sheena C. Howard is Associate Professor of Communication at Rider University and an award-winning author, including a 2014 Eisner Award winner for her co-edited book, Black Comics: Politics of Race and Representation. This is a great book! It is written and illustrated like a beautiful story of African Americans contributions to the comic industry over a very long period of time into the present day. It is the start of great work realizing that some people will say why didn't you include this person or that person. That's the difficulty of doing this kind of book but the most exciting thing about that, is that it makes for even greater anticipation of more books which will include even more great artist in this field and once that book is done someone will say again what about this person and again the cycle and the need will be met with even more future books until people start to realize the enormous contributions that are being made everyday by great African American artist, Women of color and brown people a whole. We now have a voice that will continue to be shared with and by, everyone over a continuous space of time! So celebrate this book and cheer on future books that capture more artist because remember, there has never been a book quite like this before!
This is a MUST for serious Comic Book Heads,especially for those of us in the Black Communities to show others that there is not only a place for us, but a VOICE as well. Great Book by Dr. Howard.
