This is the 1st book I have read on the Lost Colony but I would like to read more to see what others say about it & the conclusions they come to. If there were numerous reports of interaction with the colonists from a variety of locations after the original colony was found abandoned I don't know why it hasn't been assumed they just scattered so I'd like to read at least one more book about it to see what those authors say. I plan on reading this again, too, to be sure I correctly understand the conclusions put forth here. One thing I found annoying was the overuse of incomplete sentences which is sometimes used for effect when a period is used instead of a comma followed by a phrase rather than a sentence. I thought this was longer than it needed to be & that the author went down a few too many rabbit holes. Also a lot of time was spent on linguistics which I found boring & skimmed over. I am going to read it again, tho, b/c the politics going on in England at the time & his theories about that are confusing but intriguing. I didn't know anything about any of that but have since learned a little so I may understand it better. It's definitely worth reading & I did enjoy it, I just couldn't give it 5 stars.

This is the definitive book for those researching ancestry beginning with, not just Mayflower passengers, but also those who followed and lived in Plymouth Colony. I've read a lot of different books on the subject but none as complete as this one.

It is both interesting and informative. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is interested in our heritage or is a descendent of the pilgrims.

I am a genealogist and am always looking for more information on how people lived during the lifetimes of my ancestors. This book sheds a great deal of light on the subject. I was delighted to read manes and information about my own ancestors.

My primary purpose for buying the book was for family history research. Have never been a big history buff but I enjoyed reading this because it was put forth in a way I could not only understand and learn from, but also be entertained and amused by as well. The times they have not changed all that much. It also helped me put my ancestors in a different perspective and was an excellent supplement to my research.

While hoping for more genealogy references I'm finding the book quite interesting from an historical perspective.Sometimes felt I was reading another version of Genesis from the old Testament!Looking forward to completing this huge work

This book is an interesting read, and very helpful to the amateur genealogist. There is a great deal of information about the Mayflower group and others who founded the Plymouth area. It does not read like a history book, even though that's just what it is. And it gives plenty of information about how the early Pilgrims and Puritans lived their day-to-day life.

This book is very detailed with lots of quotes from the original pilgrim's writings and journals. That makes it a little daunting for an easy read but it works fine as a reference book. Lots of facts and detail.
