I have this song stuck in my head all the time. Also, where do the baby ducks go??? This book tried to make you think they got eaten or some danger befell them, but then they all five come wandering back. No one ever says where they were though. I smell a sequel.
it's a nice song, and I agree with other parents that the story is weird and scary - especially when you look at the pictures accompanying the story. It seems to imply that those little ducks were eaten by the fox, the crocodile etc.
The illustrations in this book are odd. I purchased this because my 14 month old daughter loves ducks... She's obsessed with them. However,she shows little interest in this book. The illustrations are not really cute. In fact there are several creepy looking animals lurking about the pond.If I had looked through it in a bookstore, I wouldn't have purchased it.
A little weird. There is an obvous threat to the health and well being of the little ducklings on every page as they disappear, one by one. Only when they are all gone does the mother go looking for them. they are all fine, but this is a sinister book for toddlers.
I think it's a bit creepy with the fox and all predatory animals lingering around the ducklings... but my daughter loves me singing it over and over and over again... she doesn't seem bothered by the creepy animals in the background....
The art work in this little book was excellent and the story had enough suspense that it allowed for entertaining reading with a happy surprise at the end. I am a fan of buying books for baby showers to encourage reading and engagement at a young age. I will buy this book again.
Disappointed in this book. I was hoping it would be the same words that are sung in the Wiggles version of this song, but it’s not.
I use this with the curriculum ABC Jesus Loves Me. It is a great book and low cost!
