Jeremy Clarkson is the weekend writer for the The Sunday Times when he isn't writing for the tabloid paper the Sun. He also is one of the three hosts for BBC's Top Gear (BBC America). Many of his stories are taken from those he wrote for the newspapers or experienced from Top Gear. So unless you read the British Press or watch a whole lot of "Top Gear" the stories will be fresh to you.Clarkson is a joy to read and after commencing you just don't want to put the current book down so you can get through it to await the arrival of your next Clarkson book purchase. He's spot - right - on about the issues he chooses to write about. The book is a good read and Jeremy Clarkson deserves 5 Stars, if for no other reason that putting up with James May!
People have a lot to say about Jeremy Clarkson. Lefties hate him and portray him as a non-PC loudmouth. And that's exactly why many people like him. His opinions are invariably over the top but have enough reality in their wake to resemble the truth -- or 'a' truth. What is often overlooked is that he is a wonderfully funny writer."The new C5 sits among other four-door saloons -- from BMW, Audi, Ford, Honda, etc. -- looking much like Angelina Jolie would while sitting in a Wakefield bus queue."He is what he is. I wouldn't go near a car he was trying to sell me, but I'll take his books any day.
This is another collection of his columns. His commentary on cars and society are always interesting and entertaining whether or not you agree with him. It doesn't matter if this is from a couple of years back or today. Still a fun read.
Clarkson is great. What a laugh!
Good humour. Lots of subjects covered (as you would expect from a collection of newspaper columns). Opinions can be thought provoking and quite often, I bet, what a number of people are thinking but daren't say. Whether or not you agree with the sentiments there is always good humour and a number of self depecating insights into his own life. My wife doesn't get the humour, but then again she does not understand cars or machinery, so each to their own. Does not achieve 5 stars only because it is a collection of columns (which I knew when I bought it, so not a criticism of the author), but after reading all of this series of books there is a little feeling of "same old, same old" with the format. Still recommend it as a good fun read and a book you can pick up and put down as many times as you like.
This is another great book of Clarkson's articles over the last few years. He is his usual outrageous self, showing no fear or favour to anyone who does not share his right wing views. Many of the articles are hysterically funny. I find this the sort of book I read over a long time, usually an article or two while queuing or waiting for something to happen.
Clarkson at his snarky best! If you're "PC" or thin skinned, skip this book. If your view of the world isn't filtered by rose colored glasses, J.C. delivers his observations with his always sardonic humor.
Love the writings of Jeremy Clarkson. He's a great journalist, and constructs arguments very wittily. Don't be fooled by his television buffoonery; he is very clever and witty. I laughed out loud often when reading it on my morning train commute.
