If you are into making cocktails this is a book worth adding to your collection. I am not sure it breaks much new ground in the area of Tiki drinks since there have been a number of we all researched books since Mr Berry took the plunge. I will highlight the great pictures although that is faint praise if the drinks are poor. The drinks are good. I have made three so far and read a number of other recipes. Moderate in complexity and special ingredients required but generally not overly sweetened junk drinks.
Absolutely beautiful book with wonderful tiki cocktails. The book is laid out in a very straightforward manner which is very enjoyable to read. Each drink has a paragraph with context and history of its origins that I spent an hour or two reading through and had a blast learning about each of these wonderful tiki drinks. The recipes also have a very helpful recommendation of the rum/spirits that the author recommends for each drink. What a beautifully thought out and original book exploring all sorts of Tiki cocktails, both historical and the author’s newer originals. I appreciate the simplicity of this book when compared to the busy-ness of Smuggler’s Cove (another wonderful and essential Tiki cocktail book to own). I highly recommend adding it to your collection.
This is honestly one of the most beautiful books I own.I anxiously awaited delivery for FIVE months and when it finally came, I couldn't have been more pleased. The photographs are beautiful, but Shannon's insight and story telling is what draws me in.Cocktail drinking, I'm an expert. Cocktail making, I'm hopeless. But Shannon's recipes and suggestions make me feel like I really can do it, I can tiki!
Beautiful book! The end has amazing list of recipes to use in the cocktails, so you're not running to the super fancy liquor store dropping more money. Amazing book for any tiki enthusiast.
